About The Big Fish Our farm is family owned and run and has been producing top quality trout for more than 35 years. The trout farm is run in a natural and ecologically friendly way and the water used to feed the farm finds its way unharmed back to the river. Especially relevant in this the Year of Food and Farming. The farm is situated in a beautiful part of the Nar Valley in the Norfolk village of Narborough. On our Nature Walk grass pathways guide you through mature trees, laurel hedges and daffodils especially beautiful in March and April. You will meander through unspoilt water meadows alongside streams and little ponds, leading you from one enchanting scene and leafy glade to another. You then have the opportunity to come onto the Farm and see first hand how fish purchased from this trout farm are raised and why customers travel such long distances to enjoy our beautiful fresh trout and our hand made smoked products. On the farm you may visit our exciting new hatchery project. We have dug two large growing on ponds and erected two huge polytunnels in late 2007. Visitors will have the life cycle of the trout and indigenous river fish explained with the use of Story Boards and other Visual Aids. The main thrust of the project is to create a re-circulation system to conserve water and eventually feed an ‘Aquaponic’ growing area for herbs and salads. The exhibitions and work going on in the tunnels will be changing and evolving through the year for the entertainment of groups and individuals. You will have the opportunity to see the trout and enjoy the spectacle of the ‘Big Fish’ during their feeding frenzy, transforming the water into a splashing and jumping mass of fish! Children and adults alike enjoy exploring and developing an affinity with nature and as you leave the farm to return to the Nature Walk you do so near the beautiful old ‘Monet Bridge’ where you continue along the water side over the bridge to the Fox Covert. You
first enter the Cathedral of Firs and wonder at the beautiful quiet
area created by a stand of ancient Yews. The walk winds through Rhodendrons,
a sight to behold in late May and June, and continues via Every
